Loropetalum chinense
The Chinese fringe flower or Strap flower is a species of shrub or small tree in the Hamamelidaceae family, native to China, Japan, and Southeast Asia.

The name Loropetalum means the shape of the flower and comes from the Greek “Loron” meaning rope and “Petalon” meaning petals.

This is one of the red-leaved trees that grow in the tropics. The height of the tree varies, it refers to where it grows.

In recent years, the popularity of the Chinese fringe flower tree has peaked and has begun to be cultivated as an ornamental tree in various tropical regions.

The Chinese fringe flower grows as a shrub or small tree that can grow 7-8 meters tall and has so many small branches. The bark is light grayish cream in color which makes this tree so suitable as an ornamental tree.

The Chinese fringe flower tree is also an alternative to color-leaved trees for tropical climates. The tree thrives on nutrient-rich soil and in full sun all day long.
